The treasure of the archipelago…
The itinerary starts either from Porto Cervo, the main centre of the Costa Smeralda or from Poltu Quatu; however the first stop is Spargi a place that located within it’s watery depths are important archaeological finds and the wreck of a Roman ship from the 2nd century BC these now recovered are now exhibited in the naval museum of La Maddalena.
We continue on towards to the Pink Beach of Budelli, proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, however access to which is prohibited both from land and sea. The feature that makes it special is the presence within the composition of the sand of pink invertebrate remains which give it a spectacular pink colour, this making it unique in the world.
Continuing on, one enters a natural lagoon the Manto della Madonna, enclosed by the islands of Budelli, Razzoli and Santa Maria.
The name Manto della Madonna derives from the intensity of the blue sea and the incredible transparency of the waters, a real pristine natural pool that offers unforgettable emotions. We return in the direction of La Maddalena, the main island of the archipelago of the same name, which also houses the only inhabited centre, populated with numerous shops, bars and restaurants.
Last but not least the island of Caprera, second in size, entirely included in the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park still completely wild and uncontaminated. Its jagged profile hides incredible coves alternating with cliffs overlooking a sea of a thousand colours predominantly of green and turquoise.
The itinerary ends with the return to Porto Cervo or Poltu Quatu.
